Research - Means Restriction

Preventing specific suicide methods.

The restriction of means to suicide is one of the best-established practices in suicide prevention. Members of the Werkstaette have contributed to the evidence base, with a particular focus on firearm legislation, railway and subway suicide. This research is complemented by efforts to better understand how to prevent suicides at locations with increased suicide occurrence (i.e., hotspots).
